KIEP 250+ is a 4-year programme that consists of six SME cohorts. Each cohort consists of 40-50 SMEs who will benefit from the project’s performance based grant funding to improve their businesses by enhancing productivity, market linkages as well as use of technology and innovation to make them more competitive locally, regionally and globally.

The SMEs Cohort 3 call for applications window was opened on 20th November, 2023 and was closed on 16th January, 2024. After evaluation against the eligibility criteria, the following SMEs moved to diagnosis phase and were included in Cohort 3 as successful applicants.

Botto Solar Limited

Botto Solar manufactures and integrates energy efficient appliances and renewable energy solutions. They manufacture energy efficient stoves, hot water boilers, and kitchen appliances. They also integrate and distribute solar systems including solar lanterns, solar photovoltaics, solar hot water systems, batteries, and accessories. Their energy saving stoves have become the standard for cooking in many Kenyan schools. They ensure that their products are fabricated to the highest standards while reducing reliance on Kenyan forest reserves. Botto solar sells throughout Kenya and has physical branches in Nakuru, Eldoret, Kericho, and Nyahururu.

Botto Solar has been innovating in the energy manufacturing sector for over 20 years and have provided solutions to thousands of schools and homes. The grant will help them promote products and solutions which will not only reduce reliance on fossil fuels, but also Kenya’s dwindling fossil reserves. This will improve their position in the market as a key player and a partner in the industry. The Botto Solar team has a track record of success in developing innovative technologies that have been adopted by thousands. Their project is unique in that it combines cutting-edge research with practical applications that will benefit society as a whole.

The KIEP 250+ project enables Botto Solar to increase productivity through a market diversification and expansion initiative. This involves engaging a consulting firm, conducting market research, and developing a marketing strategy.

Giltech Fabricators Limited

Giltech is a manufacturing company dealing with innovations and fabrication of different types of equipment with main focus being on stainless steel kitchen wares. The company’s mission is to make life easy by use of quality and affordable equipment. The company seeks to provide quality and standard equipment that solves the market demands through fabrication and use of advanced technology, reduce labour costs by mechanization of production processes for commercial kitchens while reducing wastage of time and resources in commercial kitchens for improved services. Giltech focuses on balancing high quality with affordability for greater accessibility while ensuring better hygiene and sanitation in commercial kitchens to always protect customers and staff. The company’s first innovation was the famous large scale vegetables chopping machine which became very popular with schools, hospitals and hotels.

Giltech Fabricators Limited aims to optimize products and business processes for efficiency and market outreach using the KIEP 250+ grant. This will be achieved through the automation, digitization, and integration of the design, drawing, cutting, production, and marketing processes.

Twiva Media Group Limited

Twiva is an Influencer-powered social commerce platform that helps brands effectively gain access to customers by harnessing the power of influencers to market and sell goods and services to their communities of influence. Its key strengths include economies of scale through multi-reseller promotion, widespread product visibility through multi-listing on socials, enhanced sales conversions via product-influencer matching, and innovative shoppable content with AI.

The KIEP 250+ project will enable Twiva Media Group Limited to increase revenues through AI software development and programming.

Seven Twenty Holdings Limited

Seven Twenty Holdings Ltd is a company that specializes in the manufacturing of curtain rods and curtain rods accessories. The company converts raw materials including CRCA, black sheet, furniture pipes and wires into curtain rods accessories. The company is among the first companies to locally manufacture these products which is highly imported into the country. The bigger goal of the company is to promote local manufacturing of products that are highly imported and yet can be manufactured locally.
The company also prides in engineering and reverse engineering towards job creation and providing decent work to the team members and positive impact to the local community through coworking and jobs.

Seven Twenty Holdings Ltd has seen and experienced growth in the last four years. This has opened the possibilities and firm belief in local manufacturing. The company has also seen growth in production opportunities using existing machines, with small possible additions in molds.

Through the suppor tof the KIEP 250+ grant, Seven Twenty Holdings Limited aims to advance their market reach and competitiveness through implementing an efficient automated business integration system and developing a market penetration plan.

Orchard Juice Limited

Orchard Juice Limited is fresh fruit juice processing company registered in Kenya. The company offtakes fresh fruits from farmers and processes them into natural fresh juices for supply to Hotel, Schools, hospitality institutions and households within Nairobi and Environs. Its main products are a variety of freshly squeezed juices which include mango, passion, orange, apple, pineapple, lemon, lime, sugarcane, watermelon and a cocktail blend. The juices are hygienically processed through a cold chain system to increase their shelflife and preserve their nutrients.
The grant will help Orchard Juice Limited increase production capacity, improve their processing systems and increase their fruits off taking capacity from farmers.

The KIEP 250+ project will assist Orchard Juice Limited enhance its production capacity through developing a strategic expansion plan and by developing a digitized and integrated supply chain management system.

Raaro Leather and Accessories

Raaro Leather & Accessories, was established in 2017 and operate in Bungoma town. They make high-quality leather shoes and other leather accessories. Raaro primarily uses real leather in their production i.e. 100% authentic leather made from animal hide. Their mission is to provide quality and customized assortment of shoes to accommodate all varying styles and shapes to the customers’ satisfaction. Currently, their main customer segment is school children, however, they produce men’s and ladies’ wear as well.

The establishment of Raaro Leather was inspired by the growing demand for good quality shoes and leather accessories in Bungoma County. Most affected by this scarcity were schoolchildren who could not afford school shoes. Raaro Leather designed high-quality, affordable, and long-lasting shoes to cater to this demand. The company also supports local businesses by buying soles, and fabric materials that are used during the production of their products. Raaro Leather products are crafted by local artisans of whom most have worked for the firm since its inception. They made an annual revenue of KES 6.9 million in 2023 and currently have 8 full-time employees.

Through teh support of KIEP 250+, Raaro Leather and Accessories aims to optimize their shoe and accessories production line by automation of the product production line through purchasing and installing a lasting machine, a skiving machine, and a sole pressing machine.

PalamaCare Limited

Palama Care Limited is a women-led manufacturing company based in Kenya. They manufacture personal hygiene products, sanitizers, soaps, and liquid detergents. They deliver a wide range of comprehensive products to whole salers, supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, dairies, breweries, soft drink plants, food processing plants, horticulture, healthcare institutes, and commercial facilities.

They provide consulting services and free training and support to foster cooperation and long-term development. Thus optimizing industrial cleaning processes which reduces costs without compromising on quality. In such a highly competitive industry, Palama Care Limited wants to give their customers value for their money wile promising that their customer care wil be second to none.

The KIEP 250+ project will enable Palamacare Limited to leverage quality standards and strategic marketing to drive competitiveness and success in the market. This will be achieved by optimizing their marketing strategy and by obtaining ISO 9001:2015 certifications.

Kenton Farm Limited

Kenton Farm is a vertically integrated agriculture enabler that empowers small-scale farmers while feeding the world. With market access, input and capital while capacity building. They are connecting the Kenyan youths and farmers to the great potential that lies within them, while alleviating them from poverty. With current direct employment of sixteen permanent staff and over fifty-seven parttime/casual employers with the projected opportunity to double their market, they will continue the astronomical impact in job creation directly and indirectly. Their farmers who are scattered all over the country are their great motivators, seeing their improved livelihoods through assured market access and technical support. Unlike their competition, they are focused on providing certified seeds, advances for labor procurement, and Agronomic services and their staff empowerment.

Kenton Farm Limited aims to improve their production, market positioning, and sustainability using the KIEP 250+ grant. This will be achieved through a market development and expansion strategy.

Friendship Container Manufacturers Limited

Friendship Container Manufacturers Limited is a company primarily engaged in the manufacturing of mental plastic packaging. The metal cans are used in the packing of foods like jams, milk powder, condensed milk, coffee, tea, etc, and are also used in the packing of paints and chemical products. They manufacture injection molded rigid plastic packaging for the paint, edible oil, and dairy industries. They also make plastic closures for the beverage industries and Aluminum Closures for both Pharma and Alcohol industries. Their prime customers include Brookside Dairies, KCC, Trufoods, CocaCola Bottling Company, Henkel Kenya, and Dormans. They are a FSSC 22000 certified company.

The KIEP 250+ project will allow Friendship Container Manufacturers Limited to improve efficiency and productivity through optimization of production processes for waste reduction and digitization of their supply chain.

Maxicare Sunrise Limited

Maxicare Sunrise Limited Hospital (MSH) is a 52-bed level 4 facility located in a junction town of Webuye – Bungoma;. MSH was incorporated in January 2021 and its services were launched in March 2021.

Their service portfolio includes outpatient services; casualty emergency; specialist consultancy; inpatient services including wards and maternity; two main operating theatres; laboratory class e services; imaging including X-ray, ultrasonography, electrocardiography, echocardiography; dental services; ophthalmology, optometry and a wellstocked pharmacy.

Through KIEP 250+ support, Maxicare Sunrise Limited aims to leverage sustainable business growth by optimizing business processes, upgrading digital platforms and digital radiography, and procuring and installing a solar power system.

Vivo Fashion Group Limited

Vivo Fashion Group designs, manufacture and retails ladies clothing. They develop over 100 new styles every month and produce 90% in their own factory in Baba Dogo, Nairobi, where they employ over 200 people. They then retail the clothing across a chain of 25 stores (22 in Kenya, 2 in Rwanda and 1 in Uganda).

Vivo has been instrumental in growing Made in Kenya fashion. For over 12 years now they have spearheaded this agenda and demonstrated that local fashion is a viable business. They have created over 380 jobs(70% women, 70% youth) and built an e-commerce platform to create opportunities for other fashion businesses to showcase and offer their products.

The KIEP 250+ project will enable Vivo Fashion Group Limited to accelerate their growth and increase productivity by integrating new embroidery machinery and developing market entry strategies into the United States.

Juano SPS Limited

Juanco SPS is anchored in the farming and public health sectors carrying out conceptualization, development and marketing of agro-inputs and pest control products in public health. Unlike their competitors who deal and produce synthetic products, Juanco is known for its biological products that leaves no residuals in argo-produce and takes care of the environment. They currently have operations in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. They are looking to get into Ethiopia, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Juanco SPS Limited aims to obtain PCB and ECOCERT certification, and well as procure and automated product packaging and batching machine using the KIEP 250+ grant.

Pinnacle Systems Limited

Established in 2005, Pinnacle Systems Ltd is a pioneering manufacturing company that has forged a successful synergy between innovative technical solutions and robust expertise, revolutionizing fleet and road safety management. Their products include speed limiters and tracking equipment, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, seatbelts, lifesaver triangles, to name a few. Their mission centers on developing groundbreaking solutions that empower fleet-dependent companies to significantly reduce operating costs and minimize equipment downtime. As a manufacturing trailblazer, Pinnacle Systems is the go-to choice for businesses seeking excellence in fleet and road safety management.

The KIEP 250+ project will allow Pinnacle Systems Ltd to improve operational efficiency, increase productivity, and grow revenue. This will be achieved through automation of operations through installation of the Odoo Software.

Sahihi Interior Designers Limited

Sahihi Interior Builders is a leading interior space design and fabrication (build-out) company based in Kenya, with a rich legacy of 13 years in the industry. At Sahihi Interior Builders, their mission is to create exceptional interior spaces that inspire, enrich, and enhance the lives of clients and communities. Sahihi strives to deliver innovative designs, superior craftsmanship, and unparalleled service while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. Sahihi’s vision is to be the premier choice for interior construction solutions in East Africa, known for creativity, reliability, and commitment to sustainable practices. They aim to continuously innovate and exceed expectations, setting new benchmarks for excellence in the industry.

Sahihi Interior Designers Limited will increase productivity through a market awareness and action initiative, as well as a skills sourcing, vetting, and capacity building initiative using funding from the KIEP 250+ project.

Love Artisan Limited

Love Artisan is a Kenyan furniture manufacturer that harnesses the potential of our artisan workforce to create quality, contemporary, African-inspired furniture. Their furniture is crafted by their team of 24 in-house artisans, creating sustainable employment and advancing our local artisan industry. Their work showcases the incredible range of traditional and modern fabrics found throughout the continent, helping to preserve and promote the diversity and beauty of African cultural textiles. The specialize in upholstered accent furniture and have a diverse market reach, catering to both household and commercial clientele, including hotels, lodges, and restaurants. While their primary market is in Kenya, they are actively expanding our presence into the East African region.

Through the KIEP 250+ support, Love Artisan Limited aims to enhance export capabilities for market growth through receiving design engineering support and developing an e-commerce enabled website.

Oxy Plus International Company Limited

Oxy Plus International Company Limited is a manufacturing entity with two Diverse Divisions:
(a) Medical Industrial Gases such as medical oxygen, industrial oxygen, liquid nitrogen, dissolved industrial acetylene and medical nitrous oxide. Their key customers include: hospitals, animal breeders, marine services. Their target clients include; patients in hospitals, veterinary doctors, divers. Their market includes; pharmaceutical, fabrication, animal husbandry.
(b) Multipurpose Packaging Products and flexible PVC hosepipes, grocery nets, baler twines and manilla ropes. Their key customers include; farmers, animal husbandry, hardware shops, agrovets. Their target clients are; cop, fish, animal farmers for packaging their produce etc.

Through the KIEP 250+ support, Oxy Plus International Company Limited will increase access to markets and sales by developing a digital marketing strategy. This will involve engaging a consultant, conducting market research, developing a marketing strategy, and creating an interactive website and online presence.

Jeilo Leather Collections Limited

Jeilo Collections produces premium bags, gift items, and accessories using leather and textile materials, incorporating Afrocentric details, catering to both corporate and retail customers. They have integrated ethical sustainability systems for in the business policy which integrates minimizing waste and creating additional economically valuable products. Their business operations are rooted in principles of social impact and environmental preservation. They actively collaborate with communities, providing training and employment opportunities for artisans to help them pursue their goals. Their product offerings include: office bags, table organizers, cheque book holders, coasters, and more.

The KIEP 250+ project will allow Jeilo Leather Collections Limited to improve productivity and market competitiveness through the automation of management processes through establishment of SOPs and installation of the ODOO system.

Jarine Investment Limited

Jarine Investment Ltd is a fully Kenyan owned company committed to growing and supplying to the local markets with fresh and affordable variety of fruits and vegetables as well as importation of assorted varieties of fruits which are not locally produced.
They have categorized their products in terms of local sourcing and imports for both fruits and vegetables. Vegetables include spinach, sukuma, terere, kunde, managu, saget, mrenda, mitoo, tender, broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage. Fruits include apples, oranges, red white grapes, plums, pomegranate, lychees, pears, kiwi, strawberries and raspberries. Their target market is local supermarket chains including brands such as Quickmatt supermarket, Weacon, Crossways and Eastmatt Supermarket.

Through the KIEP 250+ support, Jarine Investment Ltd aims to grow revenue, increase sustainability, and increase competitiveness using the grant. This will be achieved through designing and installing and automation system, deploying a farm traceability system, and deploy an e-commerce software.

Anchor Apex Ch Limited

Anchor Apex Ch Limited is a company with seven pillars, leather value addition among them. They do leather tanning through the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI), a common manufacturing facility in Kisumu. The workforce includes 40 employees skilled in hides and skin collection, tanning, returning and finishing, footwear and leather goods manufacturing, sales and distribution, among others. Anchor Apex Ch Limited is one of the SMEs that has ventured into leather value addition to minimize if not eliminate wastage in the value chain and to introduce competitively priced finished leather for belts, bags and footwear in the market. Being in the space of leather tanning and footwear and leather goods manufacturing, is a key pillar in Kenya economic development in the current Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) model. The process of value addition of leather is extensively labor intensive, therefore, much wealth and job opportunities are created in the value chain.

The KIEP 250+ project will assist Anchor Apex Ch Limited in enhancing production capacity through achieving ISO standards and Kaizen training, as well as streamlining the human resource processes through automation and function integration.

Zana Africa Group Limited

Zana Africa, hereinafter referred to as “Zana”, is a Fast-Moving Educational Goods (FMEG) company that is changing the East African feminine hygiene industry. They provide easy access to requisite feminine hygiene products (FHPs) in the form of Nia-brand sanitary pads at affordable prices, with quality standards that prevent rashes and burns that are typical of many pads.

Zana Africa Group Limited aims to increase productivity through the KIEP 250+ project by increasing brand visibility and product diversification.

Merutex Outfitters and Uniforms Limited

Merutex outfitters and uniforms is a woman-owned and led garment manufacturing business based in Meru, Kenya. The company specializes in the production and sales of school uniforms and workplace protective wear, serving over 50 schools and more than 5 large-scale farms in the Mt. Kenya region. As a vertically integrated business, Merutex manages in-house design, manufacturing, and distribution. Since its establishment in 2013, the company has grown from producing only school sweaters to offering a broad range of school uniforms and corporate protective wear.

The KIEP 250+ project will enable Merutex Outfitters and Uniforms Limited accelerate growth and enhance productivity through workflow digitization, developing a market strategy, and equipment modernization.

Safi Organics Limited

Safi Organics spearheads the agricultural revolution with its pioneering approach to organic fertilizer solutions and sustainable farming practices. Leveraging proprietary technology and employing a decentralized fertilizer production model, Safi Organics specializes in improving soil fertility and enhancing crop yields while minimizing ecological footprint. The company offers a comprehensive range of services aimed at supporting farmers across Kenya, encompassing carbon-negative organic fertilizers, soil testing, farmer training, and consultancy services. Safi Organics’ competitive advantage lies in its unparalleled ability to tailor fertilizer characteristics to specific soil types and crop requirements with remarkable precision, thereby optimizing agricultural efficiency and minimizing waste and delivering substantial environmental benefits through carbon sequestration.

The KIEP 250+ project will assist Safi Organics Limited in empowering local farmers through equipping them with knowledge and skills on fertilizer use and by establishing experimental agricultural trial plots.

Ziwani Poultry Enterprises

Ziwani Poultry Enterprises Ltd is a dedicated, innovative and mission-driven agribusiness enterprise working to transform the indigenous chicken value chain in Kenya for social and economic value, primarily through value addition and improved chick distribution, and chicken meat. They work closely with smallholder farmers by supplying them with day-old chicks and buying back free-range egg and mature chicken for slaughter thereby providing an end-to-end solution in poultry farming value chain. In the past 9 years, Ziwani has served over 13, 000 farmers in the areas of Turkana, Nairobi, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Bungoma and Siaya.

KIEP 250+ project will supprt Ziwani Poultry Enterprises increase productivity and enhance innovation through obtaining KEBs, Halal, and NEMA certification and train staff using HACCP on the best poultry farming practices.

Acacia EPZ Limited

Acacia is an agro processing company in a unique value chain of Gum Arabic, with operations in the ASAL regions of Kenya. Gum Arabic exudes from the cracks on the bark of the acacia trees under heat and dryness. The gum flows naturally from the bark of the trees in the form of a thick and rather frothy liquid, and speedily concretes in the sun into tears. Acacia’s mission is to leverage on gums and resins resources to drive societal, environmental, and commercial value with a vision to transform the ASALs one bag at a time. Acacia’s unique selling proposition (UPS) lies in its strategic combination of technological innovation, quality assurance, and commitment to operational excellence in the Gum Arabic value chain ensuring mutual growth for the stakeholders and the communities they serve.

The KIEP 250+ project will allow Acacia EPZ Limited with marketable volume enhancement through automation, digitization, and integration of field operations.

Njabini Farmers Cooperative Society Limited

Njabini Farmers’ Cooperative Dairy Society Limited was established in 1965. It is strategically located in the agricultural rich Nyandarua County. It is a medium sized cooperative specializing in milk pasteurization for the local market. The cooperative prides itself of owning a milk cooling factory with a capacity of processing 5,000 liters of milk per day. The cooperative owns the following: milk pasteurizing equipments; 3000l/hr. pasteurizer, 3000l/hr. homogenizer, wooden fired boiler, Ice bank tanks.

Njabini Farmers’ Cooperative Society Limited aims to increase productivity through the KIEP 250+ project. This will be achieved by installing dairy product packaging machines, product diversification, deployment of branding, and technical training.

Grow Tech Nurseries Limited

Grow Tech Nurseries Ltd, founded in 2015 in Ngata, Nakuru City, Kenya, is revolutionizing agricultural practices with its cutting-edge biotechnology. Specializing in tissue culture, they propagate a variety of crops, including cut flowers, bananas, and pyrethrum, alongside premium vegetable seedlings for Kenya’s diverse farming community. Their mission is to harness the power of biotechnology to bolster food security and uplift the livelihoods of farmers across Kenya. Embracing sustainability, they have ventured into agroforestry, cultivating bamboo, Croton, and fruit trees to promote biodiversity, combat climate change, and open new economic prospects.

KIEP 250+ will enable Grow Tech Nurseries Limited to enhance productivity through the adoption of climate smart farming techniques and strategies for brand visibility and market penetration.

Ndalani Farm Produce Limited

Ndalani is a mid-sized agro processor in the dairy value chain established in 2012. The company is located in Machakos County in the Eastern part of Kenya, an ASAL where there is great need for quality, nutritious and safe dairy products at affordable prices. Ndalani’s intention was to empower the farming community by providing a market for them and encouraging them to diversify into dairy, bringing dairy farmers together to produce and aggregate milk in an organized manner. Ndalani’s focus is on products quality, affordability, accessibility, and availability and the company’s mission is to transform the community by reducing widespread poverty and malnutrition with safe nutritious milk and job creation and in its vision, seeks to improve the community’s standards of living.

Through the KIEP 250+ project, Ndalani Farm Produce aims to increase productivity and growth in revenue by product diversification of mango and passion yogurt varieties, developing a marketing strategy which includes digital marketing and branding, and process enhancement for increased efficiency and productivity.

Waterbuck Fresh Foods Limited

Waterbuck Fresh Foods, established in 2019, is a leading exporter of premium fresh fruits and vegetables sourced from Kenya to markets in Europe and the Middle East. With a commitment to excellence, they offer a diverse range of products, including Hass Avocado, Fuerte Avocado, Apple Mango, and Kent Mango, all grown on their organic farms and by local smallholder farmers. Their products are certified by various organizations such as the Fresh Produce Consortium of Kenya, GRASP Global Gap, SMETA Social Audit Certification, and Global Gap, ensuring the highest quality standards through rigorous quality control measures. Since inception, the company has experienced remarkable growth, witnessing a 230% increase in exports and revenue, expanding workforce to over 60 employees, and supporting over 600 local farmers.

Through the KIEP 250+ project, Waterbuck Fresh Foods will enhance quality, efficiency, and competitiveness for sustainable global market expansion. This will be achieved through training farmers and aggregation to improve product quality and yield, and implement an automated traceability system for farm-to-market visibility.

Eris Industries

Incorporated in 2014, Eris Industries manufactures top-notch detergents for homes, industries, and institutions. They believe that sparkling clean surroundings and good hygiene should not be a luxury. That is why they develop effective cleaning solutions at affordable prices and accessible to all. With over 120 staff, they form a strong team of full-time and casuals who ensure their products reach every corner of Kenya. From powerful sanitizers and disinfectants to personal care items, kitchen cleaners, and everyday essentials, their comprehensive range caters to diverse needs.

The KIEP 250+ project will help Eris Industries to unlock access to new markets through obtaining ISO and HACCP certifications.

Panel Millers Limited

Panel Millers is a maize milling company based in Thika. They are equipped with quality and modern technology, and the company ensures the production of premium flour while adhering to stringent quality standards that have not only been set by KEBS but also by the company. Panel Millers currently has two premium brands Siri Bora and Safi Bora. They currently have a capacity to process 30 tonnes of maize flour in a day, and with the growing demand for maize flour, they are looking to increase the capacity. Their market is a combination of B2B including distributors, wholesalers, and retailers and B2C channels. They have a dedicated team of professionals who oversee the entire process from production to sales ensuring excellence of the company.

The KIEP 250+ project will enable Panel Millers Limited to effectively position themselves in the market through market strategy for visibility and awareness, and the automation of supply chain operations.

Mt Kenya Sprouts Limited

Established in 2019, Mt. Kenya Sprouts is a prominent summer flower producer located on the highaltitude slopes of Mt. Kenya, spanning 26 hectares between 1,900m and 2,500m above sea level. The business commitment to sustainability drives the cultivation of premium summer flowers, ensuring a diverse and consistently exceptional selection year-round. Actively engaging with the local community, they strive to enhance the quality of life for those in their vicinity. With 150 team members, they export high-quality blooms to markets worldwide, including the Netherlands, Japan, Australia, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Egypt, Germany, UK, and USA. Lempean Global Millers Limited

Lempean Global Millers incorporated in 2020 is an agricultural manufacturing company that focuses on innovation and value addition through maize milling and animal feed processing. Their mission is to have a healthy nation by milling nutritious flour for the Kenyan households as well as provide quality animal feeds to the Kenyan animal farmer for higher returns. Their operations include a processing plant, a pack house and distribution channels. The plant has a production capacity of 8,640T translating to 7,084T of maize flour and 1,556Tof bran (animal feeds) per annum at 82% extraction rate. With this production rate, they can produce two types of products namely Pala Premium and Simba Extra, which they supply to Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Kajiado and Rift Valley Regions.

The KIEP 250+ project will support Lempean Global Millers increase productivity through the standardization of operational processes, training staff, and product diversification through animal feed processing.

Zebra Productions Limited

Zebra Productions Limited (ZPL) is a medium-sized woman-owned company incorporated in 2009. Zebra is a local dynamic film production company committed to creating authentic African film content for a global audience. Its vision is “Boldly celebrate African exotic stories” while its mission is “to entertain, inform and educate our audiences by creating, producing and distributing African centric TV and Film content”. Some of its international notable film productions are “Salem Series”, an adaptation of the South African show “Gomora” , “Changes Series” and “Limo on the Run,” airing on Maisha Magic, Multichoice, DSTV, GOTV, and Showmax. , Their local film productions are such as “Mamaduka,” “Maisha Tubonge,” “Maisha Jikoni,” and “Maisha Lugha,” “Ensulo” and “Promises”.

The KIEP 250+ project will enable Zebra Productions Limited to deploy digital film production technology, digital film production training, and strategy development. This will be achieved by practical technical assistance on digital film production, developing a film sales and market strategy, and procuring digital film production equipment.

Ferrasol Suppliers

Ferrasol Suppliers, a growing dairy producer located in Mau Narok, specializes in manufacturing flavored vanilla and strawberry yogurt in various sizes: 100ml, 150ml, 250ml, and 500ml. The company uses premium milk sourced from local dairy farmers to serve over 8,400 households. Ferrasol secures a steady supply of milk from over 500 livestock farmers in Mau Narok and nearby areas, many of whom previously supplied milk to the Mau Narok Cooperative. The cooperative now struggles with operational and management issues, leaving the farmers without reliable market access. Ferrasol has stepped in to address this challenge by providing market access to these farmers, supporting them, and maintaining the local dairy supply chain.

Through the KIEP 250+ project, Ferrasol Suppliers will increase productivity through product development and optimization by creating new packaging plates molds for cups and seals. Ferrasol Suppliers will also conduct an integrated training program for staff and farmers.

Kensam Millers

Kensam Millers Limited is a maize milling firm founded in the year 2017.The company is located along the Kanyange -Kwa Kibaki Road 200 metres off Othaya town, Nyeri county. The woman led and owned business was inspired by the need to create an available market for the local maize farmers through value addition to raw maize procured locally from farmers mainly in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Kirinyaga and Embu counties for maize flour products, enhance food security and help to meet the demand on the Kenyan maize flour market. The maize flour brands are ‘KUBALI and ZAYUNI’ with a market base in the larger central region (Nyeri, Murang’a, Meru, Embu, Kirinyaga), Nairobi and other parts of Kenya. Through the maize flour production and need to re-use the byproducts of maize milling they produce animal feed(s) products which are locally consumed with the main beneficiaries being the local livestock farmers.

The KIEP 250+ project will enable Kensam Millers to increase innovation and improve productivity through enhancement of the current production capacity, digitization of workflow processes, and development of business fundamentals.

Everest Enterprises Limited

Established in 1988, Everest Enterprises Limited is a prominent player in Kenya’s horticultural and floricultural sector, excelling as growers, aggregators, agro-processors, and exporters of premium produce. The firm’s vision is to become the leading exporter of African grown horticultural products. The firm’s influence extends across domestic and international markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Southern Africa. Operating as a grower and facilitator for smallholder farmers (SHFs) in Kajiado, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Meru, Embu, Laikipia and Murang’a counties, it specializes in cultivating French beans, snow peas, sugar snap, baby corn, chilies and tender stem broccoli, impacting over 6,000 SHFs since inception.

Through the KIEP 250+ support, Everest Enterprises Limited will aim to enhance export competitiveness and sustainability through acquiring export market access certifications, development of an automation system, development of new frozen vegetable packs, and capacity development.

Kentaste Products Limited

Kentaste Products Limited (KPL) is a Kenyan company incorporated in 2008 specializing in value added coconut products such as coconut oil, milk, cream, flour, chips and desiccated coconut for both local and export market. The company exports its products to Europe, Middle East and the USA markets. Its products are available in over 600 stores locally and over 300 stores globally. KPL owns a well-equipped coconut processing plant in Kwale County which includes most modern processing equipment such as de-husking, deshelling, grating, milk extraction, oil expeller, drying, powder making, water processing etc., with a processing capacity of 100,000 coconut fruits per day. The company works with more than 3,200 contracted smallholder farmers, of whom 1,600 have been already trained and their farms certified for export production in over 63 rural villages.

The KIEP 250+ project will enable Kentaste Productions Limited to expand business growth through the digitization of processes, conducting market research, and obtaining international food safety certifications.

Mutsimoto Motor Company Limited

Mutsimoto is a manufacturing company dealing with innovations, design, production and sale of automobile oil, air and fuel filters, radiator coolant, railway and locomotive parts. The Company, located in Nakuru and with distribution and sales branches in Mombasa, Nairobi and Nakuru, manufactures over 1,200 types of filters to meet demand in the African automotive market. Mutsimoto current monthly installed capacity is 700,000 filter units, and 300,000 litres of coolant. Mutsimoto designs and fabricates moulds and dies used to shape metal sheets and forms, manufactures spin-on filters, filter elements, eco-air filters, railway, coach and wagon parts as well as imports and distributes filters not yet in their manufactured range. The Company’s products are nationally certified in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Mutsimoto is certified by NEMA for environmental standards compliance and supplies a diverse customer base through distribution hubs in Nairobi, Nakuru and Mombasa.

Mutsimoto Motor Company Limited aims to be a market leader in eco-friendly motorcycle, automotive and locomotive parts manufacturing. The KIEP 250+ project will assist them in this goal by improving and developing tools, moulds, and dyes, as well as through staff and community capacity development initiatives.

MetroPoly Kenya Limited

MetroPoly Kenya Ltd, situated in Eldoret town, is a manufacturing enterprise specializing in the production of rubber recycling items and oil seals. Its manufacturing processes entails compression molding and extrusion of rubber. Notably, 70% of its product line comprises recycled tire-based items such as wheelbarrow and trolley wheels, while the remaining 30% comprises technical products like oil seals, sealing rings, and extruded rubber channels made from virgin rubber material., Metro-PolyKenya stands out as one of the few manufacturers of oil seals in the East Africa region By emphasizing on local manufacturing, Metro-Poly contributes to reducing dependency on imports (import substitution) and fostering local youth employment opportunities.

Bee-care Apiaries International Limited

Bee-care Apiaries International Limited is a private business enterprise mainly serving in the agri-business and apiculture value chains offering a variety of value-added products and services trading on both local and export markets. The company was founded in 2013 with the core business of buying, processing, and marketing natural bee products mainly Honey & beeswax for local and export markets, manufacturing all types of bee hives and equipment trading serving the East African regional markets Bee-care apiaries International Limited has since grown to offer high-quality food products to the local and global markets in the business of sourcing, processing, and distribution of agro-processed food products such as honey, Groundnuts, cashew nuts, Peanut butter, and cashew nut butter Bee-care also offers beekeeping services such as consultancy, Honey harvesting, Apiary management, hive inspections, Apiary setting, and Processing equipment installations, among other sector solutions.

Autosprings East Africa PLC

Auto Springs East Africa PLC (ASEAP) is one of the largest Kenya automotive parts manufacturers for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and the after-sales market in East and Central Africa. Auto Springs was established in 1979 and has been producing a wide range of products for various models of commercial motor vehicles and motorcycles specifically leaf springs, nuts and bolts (center bolts, U bolts, wheel studs, shackle pins, etc.), and, wiring harnesses. The company is also involved in a wide range of modifications of springs to make them suitable for the African market. Some of ASEAP’s current clients include Isuzu East Africa (IEA), Mobius, Honda, Auto Industries Limited (Bajaj), Roam Electric, and, RSA Kenya Ltd.

The KIEP 250+ project will help increase the market space for Auto Springs East Africa by viability research into the Euro 4 harness line, development of a sample wiring harness line, and technical consultancy support.

Mace Foods Limited

Mace Foods, headquartered in Eldoret, has been a player in the food industry since its inception in 2002 and has established itself as a leader in providing high-quality speciality food products. The company has 12 specialty food products all within the chili and ethnic vegetables lines. The chili products include salsa chili sauce, powdered, crushed and whole (dried) long cayenne chili, dried red African birds eye chili, dried and cut fresh chili, whole dried red bullet chili, dried red demon chili and seeds (as planting inputs). The ethnic vegetables which are all sold in a dehydrated state include black nightshade (managu), spider plant (saga), amaranth (terere), kales (sukuma wiki) and cowpea leaves (kunde). These products are not only popular in the domestic market but also contribute significantly to the company’s export portfolio. The company has a farm-to-fork model, ensuring that products are processed and delivered fresh without the use of preservatives, which is critical especially for its export market.

Through the KIEP 250+ project, Mace Foods Limited will drive revenue growth by developing a farmer management App and by developing QR codes for farmer information.

Rift Grain Logistics Limited

Rift Grains Logistics Limited is a women-owned and led manufacturing company operating in Eldoret. Rift Grain specializes in milling and packaging of maize flour and animal feeds derived from byproducts. Its flagship product, Kwetu Flour, embodies a consumer-centric approach that strongly appeals to the market. It sources maize from smallholder farmers contributing to their economic empowerment while also bolstering regional food security. The company maintains a workforce of 35 full-time employees and 30 casual workers. Rift Grain is currently working with 20 small-holder farmers and targets to increase to over 100 small-holder farmers given the improved operational efficiencies.

The KIEP 250+ will enable Rift Grain Logistics Limited to increase productivity through the digitization and automation of business processes.

Lusoi Greens Limited

Lusoi Greens specializes in the production and export of fresh, premium-quality herbs and chilies, its located in Naromoru area in Nyeri County. Alongside its own cultivation, Lusoi Greens aggregates from small holder farmers enabling them to offer a broader selection of high-quality herbs to the market while empowering the farmers. The company’s primary markets are the UK and Amsterdam. Lusoi’s cultivated herb varieties includes basil, tarragon, chives, thyme, rosemary, mint, oregano, sage, dill, and chervil, planted across 15 acres of land, and bolstered by an investment in 20 greenhouses. Lusoi actively promotes local economic empowerment by hiring women and youth from the region and contributes to community welfare through corporate social responsibility initiatives, such as facilitating access to water resources.

The KIEP 250+ Project will support Lusoi Greens Limited increase innovation and productivity by obtaining certifications, product innovation, developing a market plan, and solarization of the packhouse.

This model allows the company to offer milk at lower process considering that it is not packaged. Founded in 2015, as a sole proprietorship running a milk ATM, Southlake dairies was incorporated in 2018 and grown into a milk processor and one of the leading Milk distributors in Naivasha and its environs. The company offers a ready market to over 600 farmers while delivering safe processed milk to approximately fifteen thousand families per day. The company’s mission is to be a world class provider of Milk Processing and Marketing Solutions that are client-centric while enhancing service delivery through a blend of experience, state of the art technology and focused associates.

Sagoo Holdings Limited

Sagoo Radiators, established in 1983 is one of the leading radiator manufacturers in East Africa and a foresight for providing top quality, high performance, 100% Kenyan manufactured radiators and heat exchangers. The company’s 20,000 sq. ft. facility houses manufacturing and fabrication machinery, which produce products, used in a wide range industries, from vehicles (motor bikes, passenger vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles), Industrial, Agricultural, Marine, Aviation, earthmoving equipment and generators. Since 1985, Sagoo Radiators Ltd has served clients like Cooper Motors Corporation (CMC), Simba Colt ltd, General Motors Ltd, D.T. SOPA Supplies Ltd, a women-led flour milling company was incorporated in 2010, with facilities in Nyamakima area at the Nairobi CBD downtown and in Kikuyu (Kamangu factory) in Kiambu County. At their Kamangu factory are 4 fully equipped go-downs for milling and packing with a storage capacity of 1000 tons of grains. They source assorted grain notably sorghum, maize, millet, green grams, beans, cow peas and pigeon peas from farmers across the country and add value through milling to produce their branded products which include SOPA fortified maize meal and SOPA porridge flour. Their market channels are wholesale outlets, retail shops and institutional markets currently within Nairobi and looking to serve the peri-urban markets such are Kajiado, Nyandarua and the region. They also engage in production of animal feeds from the waste produced during the milling process. SOPA Supplies Ltd team constitutes of 3 directors, 15 full-time employees, 9 of who are female employees and 8 being youth aged 35 and below.

Through the KIEP 250+ project, Sopa Supplies will aim to improve efficiency, productivity, and revenue growth through upgrading the existing BUSY system, ISO certifications, automation of manufacturing processes, and fundamental building.

AR Films, based in Mombasa since 2012, is dedicated to reshaping global entertainment through authentic African narratives. Specializing in films, documentaries, TV series, and media projects, it has gained recognition locally and internationally. Jil Industries Limited, headquartered in Mombasa, Kenya, and established in 2020, is a key player in the plastic recycling sector. Specializing in the collection, processing, and reprocessing of various types of plastic waste, Jil Industries endeavors to convert discarded plastics into valuable resources while minimizing environmental impact. Through collection, sorting, and processing procedures, the company ensures the quality and purity of its recycled plastic pellets. These pellets are subsequently distributed to manufacturers across diverse industries, thereby contributing to sustainable manufacturing practices and the circular economy.

KIEP 250+ project will support Jil Industries Limited to advance their plastic recycling by training beach clean-up units on proper waste collection and upgrading to a higher efficiency machine.

Superfine Africa Nuts Limited

Superfine Africa Nuts Limited is an agro-processing enterprise engaged in the processing and exporting of macadamia nuts. The company has established itself in the macadamia sector in Kenya by buying the nuts directly from farmers, processing and exporting of macadamia nut kernels to various customers in 5 continents across the globe. Superfine ensures its products are of high quality by maintaining high quality assurance standards and certifications. The company is Food Safety System certification (FSSC) 22000, Brand Reputation through Compliance Global standard (BRCGS), Kosher & Halal certified ensuring adherence to top food safety management systems and quality control. They have also recently acquired Fairtrade certification and organic certification in 2023.

With a steadfast commitment to sustainability, Organic Fields aims to recycle a significant portion of urban food waste, ultimately producing affordable organic fertilizer tailored to meet the needs of smallholder farmers. Organic Fields serves over 30,000 farmers across 10 counties in Kenya, offering comprehensive support to enhance the adoption of organic fertilizer.

Through the KIEP 250+ project, Organic Fields Limited will enhance sustainable agriculture through strengthening the village-based distribution model by additional training, resources, and the use of farm demos.

Whales Engineering Limited

KTL Farming Limited

KTL Farming Ltd is a private company incorporated in 2019 with a focus on planting, growing, aggregation, processing, and marketing of avocado and its associated products. The company contracts and trains farmers to grow quality avocado fruits by providing planting material from its nursery. The company then harvests the fruits and markets them either as fresh fruits or do value-addition by processing them to avocado oil. Based in Saboti, Trans Nzoia County, KTL Farming has 6,000 registered farmers with over 600,000 fruit trees, a current workforce of 22 people, a packhouse and avocado processing trial unit, and a 200,000-seedlings capacity avocado nursery. KTL Farming has had revenue growth rates of 30% year-on-year since 2021, reaching KES 52 million in 2023. Its revenue currently comes from the sale of seedlings locally, export of fresh avocado fruits and chargeable services. Since February 2024, KTL Farming has been piloting an avocado value-addition facility to produce oil and other related products.

The KIEP 250+ project will help KTL Farming Limited with innovative production of extra virgin avocado oil through technology and by acquiring appropriate certifications.

Crofts Limited

Crofts Limited, a Kenyan-owned firm with headquarters in Thika, deals in processing extra virgin and crude avocado oils. With a mission to efficiently deliver quality products and services as required by the customer and a vision to be the best in the world, Crofts started its operations in 2015. The company is an established entity with a professional setup being driven by an experienced, passionate and dedicated team. Crofts is a member of the Avocado Society of Kenya (ASOK) as well as the Kenya Association of Manufacturers and is listed as one of the premier producers of avocado oil in Kenya. The company’s key export markets are Europe, North America (USA and Canada), India, Australasia and Asia (including China), with over 98% of firm’s products being exported to these markets.
